Location

The Port Townsend Marine Science Center is located within Fort Worden State Park in the City of Port Townsend, Washington.  Fort Worden State Park is a 434-acre multi-use park with over two miles of saltwater shoreline and a wide variety of services and facilities. The park rests on a high bluff overlooking Puget Sound. Many historic buildings remain at this 19th century military fort. The center is on Admiralty Inlet, where the Strait of Juan De Fuca meets Puget Sound. Ferry schedules are available from Washington State Ferries .

 

From Seattle,  take the Seattle/Bainbridge Island ferry or the Edmonds/ Kingston ferry.    Follow the signs to the Hood Canal Floating Bridge, cross the canal and travel on SR 104 to SR 19 (approx. 4 mi.) to SR 20 (approx. 20 mi.) to Port Townsend.
From Whidbey Island take the Keystone/Port Townsend ferry.

Upon arrival in Port Townsend, travel north on Kearney St. to Blaine St.; turn right.  Follow Blaine to Walker St. Turn left on Walker and proceed to the Fort Worden gate. Enter the gate, turn right at the stop sign and go past the Parade Grounds to the second stop sign. Turn left, go down the hill and there we are!
Bus service to the PTMSC, both within the City of Port Townsend as well as from Clallam County (Sequim & Port Angeles) and Kitsap County (Poulsbo & Bainbridge Island) is available from Jefferson Transit at 1-800-773-7788.
