Anniversary Fund
In recognition of our 25th Anniversary, the Port Townsend Marine Science Center (PTMSC) has created a special fund that will help us build an education legacy for a strong, sustainable future. The Anniversary Fund will allow us to take advantage of educational opportunities and initiatives that our operations budget cannot accommodate. Examples might include a project on ocean plastics, the development of a global warming curriculum, or a more active role in Governor Gregoire’s Puget Sound Partnership to clean up Puget Sound by 2020.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 over two years which will be matched by an anonymous $50,000 gift. Unlike an endowment fund, The Anniversary Fund would be available for immediate use, for leveraging other funding, and for “bridge” funding while applying and waiting for grants.
We invite you to join us in strengthening PTMSC to meet the challenges of educating youth and adults about our fragile oceans and protecting our precious marine resources through scientifically informed stewardship.School Program Fund
Since its inception, the Port Townsend Marine Science Center (PTMSC) has worked closely with teachers and school administrators to help them provide high quality science education for their students. School visits to our exhibits are supplemented with classes specially designed to give students hands-on, field-based experiences not possible in school classrooms. Because of a recent sharp decrease in school funding for such experiences, however, PTMSC now seeks funding to help continue such school programs. Endowment Fund
The endowment fund is designed to assure the long-term fiscal stability of the Port Townsend Marine Science Center. Strict rules guide the use of this fund. This fund is invested wisely and pays out up to 5% each year to help us bring our mission marine and coastal education and conservation to the community and to the region.

Seth Bender Scholarship Fund for Summer Camps
Seth Bender was a young man with a zest for the natural world and especially the marine environment. After his death in a snowboarding accident, his family established a fund which will allow other young people to experience the marine environment, under the mentorship of staff and volunteers at the Port Townsend Marine Science Center. Consider honoring a friend, family member or colleague with a gift to support the mission of the Port Townsend Marine Science Center. Recognize birthdays, weddings and other special occasions.
