Hands-on Summer Camps
Our marine and natural history summer camps offer young people a week of adventure and learning in the beautiful natural environment of Fort Worden state park and nearby beaches. We have both overnight camps and daycamps for younger campers and a camp in marine research for teens. Campers in the residential program stay in historic Fort Worden State Park's Conference Center facilities. Fort Worden State Park is a 434-acre multi-use park with over two miles of saltwater shoreline and a wide variety of services and facilities. The park rests on a high bluff overlooking Puget Sound. Many historic buildings remain at this 19th century military fort. 2007 marks the 19th year of our summer camp program and many of our campers return year after year, returning again as Jr. Counselors when they are past the age to attend.
Limited scholarships are available through the Seth Bender Fund, supported by donations from individual donors, the Washington Foundation for the Environment and Admiralty Audubon. Please contact us to request an application.
In 2006 several of our campers were interviewed for a televised broadcast about the health of Puget Sound. To see their interview, visit the website, Puget Sound Matters and click on the Port Townsend link.
