Tails to Scales

Tails to Scales
Grades 4th and 5th

Fish in Puget Sound come in all shapes and sizes.  Each species has specific adaptations for living in different habitats.

After learning the basics of fish anatomy, students use simple field guides to identify several different fish from our marine aquaria.  Students then discuss differences and similarities between fish species and consider how these different adaptations help the fish live in different habitats.

Finally, they create a detailed scientific drawing, labeling the basic anatomy and specific habitat needs of their fish.

Class length: 90 minutes
Maximum Group Size: 26 students and 4 adults
Program Cost: $230 (before April 1st)
Peak Season Cost: $250 (April 1st through June 18th)
