Sink or Float?
Grades 2-3

In this class, students experiment with objects that sink or float in fresh water and in salt water.

As they work, they practice the inquiry skills of predicting, observing, testing and revising predictions, and brainstorming explanations of what they see happening. They gain direct experience with the concept of density, and they learn how properties of sinking or floating are important to marine life.
