Secrets of a Beach

Secrets of a Beach
Grades 6-12

When the tide is high, what can you learn about a beach?

Plenty! Students find clues about animals and plants living both above and below the surface, and how they survive in the often hostile environment of the water’s edge. Students also find evidence of the forces acting on beaches, changing them from hour to hour, season to season and over time spans of thousands of years.

This class helps them make connections between the things they can observe and the unseen processes that make a beach the dynamic ecosystem that it is.

Class length: 2 hours
Maximum Group Size: 26 students and 4 adults
Program Cost: $260 (before April 1st)
Peak Season Cost: $280 (April 1st through June 18th)
