Low Tide Investigation

Low Tide Investigation
Grades 4-12

During this guided exploration, students investigate the rocky shore. They compare organisms they find close to the water with those living higher on the beach  By gently turning over rocks or lifting algae, students discover the complicated web of life exposed at low tide. Some classes will help collect information on animals they find for an ongoing beach study we're doing in partnership with NatureMapping.

At the end of the session, students discuss the needs and challenges plants and animals face in this environment.

Class length: 2 hours
Maximum Group Size: 26 students and 4 adults
Program Cost: $260 (before April 1st)
Peak Season Cost: $280 (April 1st through June 18th)
