Life on a Rocky Shore

Life on a Rocky Shore
Grades 1-3

The intertidal zone, the part of a beach over which tides rise and fall, can be a dangerous place for marine animals to live. Students consider what happens to animals and plants living in the intertidal zone and the challenges they face every day.

The students spend time observing animals in our touch pools to look for ways animals might protect themselves from these challenges. They describe what they discovered about the animals to their classmates and share ideas about adaptations that help the animals survive in this environment.

Maximum Group Size: 26 students and 4 adults
