Exploring Water Quality
Grades 6-12
What does it take to keep a fish alive and healthy?
Students brainstorm the needs of aquatic life. They learn how to test water for dissolved oxygen, salinity, pH, phosphates and nitrates, while becoming aware of the water quality problems these tests are able to identify.
The students work in groups testing several mystery samples from very different environments, then use their data and information about impacts taking place at each of the environments to predict the location their sample was collected. |
