Aquatic Ecosystems
Grades 8-12
Students work in small groups carrying out field investigations in two nearby aquatic environments. They sample water quality, look at aquatic macro-invertebrate diversity and compare shoreline wildlife and vegetation types at the two wetlands.
After sharing observations and discussing similarities and differences between the sites, students brainstorm new questions they would like to pursue if they were to come back for a second investigation. This activity serves as a bridge to field projects students can do back home in their own school neighborhoods. |
Class length: 4 hours
Maximum Group Size: In order to reduce impact to delicate natural areas, this class is limited to 20 students and 4 adults. This class has a higher cost because it requires additional staff.
Program Cost: $715 (before April 1st)
Peak Season Cost: $750 (April 1st through June 18th)
